Certification Process

New Officials

1. Complete the Hockey Canada Learning Lab:

2. If you're over 18 years of age, you need a current Criminal Record Check:

https://www.bchockey.net/member-info/applications/criminal-record-check (BC Hockey pays for this)

3. Complete an in-person clinic.

Please check back here for updates on 2026-27 certification clinics, and email Pat McNary if you're interested. All CVMHA members and interested parties will be notified when clinics are announced.

We will announce clinics held by CVMHA, Lake Cowichan, and Kerry Park. Officials may attend clinics at any minor hockey association.

We expect several new officials clinics to be held throughout the late summer and fall. CVMHA will host at least one.

4. Complete the on-ice training session.

CVMHA expects to include on-ice training in conjunction with its new officials clinic(s) this year.

Recertification

Information about recertification can be found on the BC Hockey website here.

CVMHA expects to host two recertification clinics for 2026-27, one on late August or September, and one in November or early December.
